Urban Tree Service Donates Swamp Birch Tree to Berwick Academy on Earth Day

For the second year in a row, Urban Tree Service/A Tree Health Company, Inc., donated a tree to Berwick Academy for the school's Earth Day assembly. This year's tree, a Swamp Birch, was placed in front of the common dining hall on school property Friday, April 23.

"It brings me great pleasure to work with the kids of the Academy on this project," said Ed Hopkins, President of Urban Tree Service. "To see the student's take such a leadership role is amazing."

The Academy's student-run Earth Day assembly includes approximately 580 students, grades K-12, and is organized by a Middle School Green Committee and the Upper School Green Committee.

During the assembly, the middle school unveiled their student pledge to no longer use plastic water bottles. Every student who signed the oath received an aluminum water bottle featuring student artwork and the tagline, "Turning over a new leaf," also created by a student.

"Urban Tree has helped to maintain this wonderful property for years, but being involved in this assembly gives new meaning to stewardship for us. I hope to continue to be a part of this for many years to come," added Hopkins.
