EEE Alert

Here at Urban Tree Service, we agree that mosquitoes are a nuisance and with New Hampshire’s first confirmed case of EEE in the headlines, many homeowners and outdoor enthusiasts are looking to protect themselves and their families.  There are a few things you can do to help safeguard yourself from mosquitoes that may be carrying the virus.

Have the perimeter of your property sprayed

Don't worry, you still have time to do this.  In fact, monthly applications should be performed until the first hard frost in the fall.

Yes, spraying is safe for your yard.  Re-entry into the area is fine once the spray has dried (about one hour after application) and there is no lasting effect or damage to sprinkler systems since the spray breaks down naturally from sunlight and microbial activity.

If you're interested in having your yard sprayed, please call Urban Tree Service for your appointment today, 332-1246.

Other ways to protect yourself from mosquitoes:

Wear protective clothing and repellent

Wearing long sleeves, pants and socks to keep your body covered makes it difficult for mosquitoes to get to your skin.  According to WebMD, the best repellents include DEET, which is deemed safe despite other reports. (http://www.webmd.com/allergies/features/avoid-mosquito-bites)

Eliminate standing water

After rainfall, water can collect in old tires, wheel barrows, buckets etc. and can provide a perfect habitat for Mosquito larvae.
